I took nearly a month since selling off my bajaj pulsar(too many of them around not to talk of recently release d very suspicious looking 135 version!) reading reviews weighing pros and cons before deciding on my next bike. I was dilly dallying between a Yamaha and a Hero Honda. In the meanwhile I purchased a hero mach bicycle as I always loved bicycling!
i am not a technical expert in bikes. so I am going to leave it to mechanics to flaunt their expertise in their chosen field. My review will be more in the comfort/handling zone rather than all the tedious numbers and gobbledygook words
My first impression when I saw my bike in the showroom after it arrived after a fortnights waiting period was WOW! I kind of felt elated because the main reason for me to buy is to show the world that I have arrived...
But then I was also apprehensive with all the power that it had if I would be able to veer it around the small town traffic I have to handle on a day to day basis! The second apprehension I had was whether I will find somebody to sit on the pillion. I had initial problems with gear shift as I was used to unidirectional gearshift in pulsar for a while..But once I got used...nothing mattered...But I was not yet ready to take it for the real test on some pathetic roads as well as the highway. I wanted to get my first service done before I could do it...
Driving within the city is always a boring routine with frequent gearshifts and excessive braking but the braking system is excellent and even split second needs are met with wonderful response...Taking it to the highway is being in a different zone..I was not sure how it would handle speed or whether I can handle the speed...I cranked up the accelerator and kept picking up speed...no vibrations no perceivable jarring notes in the engine or imabalance. i touched 110 kmph before coming back to reality..it was awesome!!!
A few CONS:
I chose a bike with red chromium wheels and sadly a closer look and the colour sucks...the paint job looks like a kids first experiment with pastels! but from a distance and the bike moving it is a different picture...And the only time during the rainy season where I stay, the bike fell down and crack went the left awning!!! and since then it vibrates...and the horn is a pipsqueak!!!
It has been four months since I got my bike and though I rated fuel consumption on a low level, I knew I was trading it off for style and performance. One doesnt buy a 225cc bike and expect miracles...and one wouldnt be supportive of ecology by buying such bikes...But I have inherited an earth that offers some good things and some not too good things...
And Karizma is one of those good things...It definitely Rocks!
