I’m here with yet another review on bikez. This time it’s the turn of hero Honda karizma. This is one of the three bikes which u will notice in my garage along with a Bajaj pulsar150 dtsi and a Yamaha RD350.I have been using this model for a year and she has clocked 7600kms.
*Looks and Design**: On the moment u set your eyes on Karizma, you just know it isn’t average. Front fairing of karizma looks bold and beautiful. Handlebar is an upright one which gives a sporty riding position. Tail end is more appealing with muscular tail peace and a large tail lamp. She gives us the felling of a big machine. There are different color variants like red, yellow, blue and black available. Mine is a black one.
*Performance**: Big powerful machines of likes of karizma were always born to smoke its tyres and scare old ladies at lights. The 225cc machine produces 18 horses at 7000 rpm. It employs a CV carburettor with a variable ignition system that alters timing based on engine power and throttle position. She looses by a small margin to Bajaj pulsar180 on her race of 0 to 60kmph but after that she is bloody fast to reach to it’s maximum of 130kmph.You won’t experience even slight vibrations at speeds above 110kmph.
*Ride and Handling**: Swing a leg over karizma and you are instantly comfortable. She comes with 18inch big black alloy wheels. Front forks and shock absorbers works beautifully enhancing the ride quality. The longer 1355mm wheelbase adds stability to the ride and cornering ability.karizma dumps out the worst of the roads and offer a gliding ride. Pillion comfort is good too thanks to excellent rear shocks. Zma comes with 270mm disc brakes at front.
*Fuel efficiency and reliability**: Fuel efficiency won’t be a major factor for someone trying to get a karizma. A 225 cc machine won’t fetch 80kmpl.she delivers about 32kmpl on normal traffic while the figure jumps to 40 on highways. Hero Honda bikes have the reputation of producing reliable bikes and karizma is no different to the tale.
*Some on cons of Karizma are**:
1) No digital speedometer.
2) 18 horses is a shade less numbers for 225 cc.
3) Pricing a bit high(75000 on road)
4) Not so broad tyres at rear.
*Conclusion**: **If one wants blend of superb power with great looks and handling then karizma is not a bad choice but should remember the fact that Bajaj pulsar 220Dtsfi is on cards.*
