~~Of the Drama OVERDOSE!~~

In the hope of escaping the back stabbing, constant bitch*ng, ever decked up women and the ever present drama of the Kekta like programming, the only thing left for us to turn to is the so called ‘talent contest’.

After the fiasco of challenge 2005, after witnessing, the ousting of the female contestants, the supposed walking out of the ‘great’ mentors and the propagated love story of Vinit by Himesh-the-Chammiya, I was naively expecting Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’s team to come to senses and create a more conducive environment for the promotion of the talent that they were supposedly showcasing anyway.

But alas, this was not to be. Let me state my case. The Season started off with the usual mentors who happen to be:

Bappi ‘da’

Vishal-Shekar

Himesh-the-chammiya and

Ishmail Darbaar

Then there was ofcourse Asha ‘tai’ and a few more ‘important’ people I obviously don’t care to remember about coming to the show as ‘celebrity’ judges. And who can forget Aditya Narayan, the next big thing, the one stepping into Shaan’s shoes.

All started out hunky dory, there were contestants from all over the world, hey they even turned to Pakistan and the US, and therefore was born the concept of the ‘VISHWA YUDH’(Mahabharat, WWI , WWII etc were ofcourse minor clashes as copared to the VISHWA YUDH’!!! )

In the initial stages, there were some people whose mere act of hitting the first besura note, made me wince in pain, but thankfully they were eliminated. And so started the VISHWA YUDH’ *(yes I am going to say this word over and over……just like Aditya Narayan…he screamed on top of his voice and therefore I will type in CAPS)

One by one the contestant pool kept getting thinner, some good ones lost out, but Raja Hasan came back from another ‘mindblowing’ concept of ‘Brahma Astra’. But mostly till the public voting got into full fledged madness, we got to witness a decent pool of talent….so far so good.

Then ofcourse started off the Drama full fledged!.....

But I am compelled to concentrate on the antics on one person ….Himesh-the-chammiya, not only does it not suffice that we listen to his brand of music blaring at every turn (oh yes…even here the desi dukan’s blast his music), and tolerate his Voice, which by the way looks like he lends to any song he directs, now we are forced to bear him, his crappy hats, his unshaven sullen face and his half buttoned shirt, all thru a season of a talent show, which was if you remember, supposed to be a respite from all the other things that tend to disturb you on a whole new level.

Back to the topic……..All thru the season, it was these words…Fantastic..Superb and of course Mindblowing!!! Words screamed out for contestants sometime deserved, but mostly not!......he kept coming up with something dramatic to say after every contestant sang, and more often than not the dramatics was upped when one of the singers happed to be from his gharana.

Who can forget the famous dialogue “Mujhe tere ghar mein Roti chahiye” Mooed our own revered nasal maestro Himesh-the-chammiya…..for Mussarat Abbas, when Asha ‘TAI’ asked him to get out of his comfort zone and try another genre of songs…….Idiot!

And then came the new Drama of LOVE……the same Blody stunt that he pulled for Vinit….now it was the turn of Aneek….the boy is freaking 17 yrs old!!! 17 do you realize that a 17 yr old is not capable of knowing true love  *(now I know people will want to argue this….I have my reasons to believe)…..and with whom…Sumedha???? Of ofcourse Mauli was too tall and Poonam was unworthy right!.....

This man needs to be neutered… pulling Crp out of his behind everytime he opens his mouth. I agree that this is a talent in itself…..but please spare us, …. the audience does not deserve to watch this kinda bll Sh*t in the name of television

Moving away from his Royal Highness Nassly…there are few more things that irked me about this programme…..listed for your convenience in points :)

The fact that Sympathy and not talent was cited to appeal for votes for one contestant

The fact that Aditya Narayan has only two volumes – LOUD and OMG!!!

Constant word usage like PRATHAMVISHWA YUDH, YUDH VIRAM and MINDBLOWING

There was no respite from the Drama….even after the show there were rumors about Paki votes being blocked

Singers like Amanat and Hemachandra (from 2005) are not fully appreciatedAnd last but not the least, the fact that female contestants for some reason never make it to the finale!!Oh yes…its true, it has been evident, female singers never seem to get the recognition that they deserve. It’s a trend, to bring them up to a certain level and then get rid of them. For years now women have battled the Glass ceiling in the corporate world, looks like that is norm, even in the world outside!!!

And then Himmesh-the-chammiya has the blody guts to say ‘Ladkiyon air ladkon mein barabari ho hi nahi sakti na!....Poonam aap ladkiyon mein winner ho!’ Bull Sht …..its like telling the person finishing the race last ‘aap pheeche se number one ho!’…

I want to end on a better note, so though there were it seems umpteen things that irritated me no end, the fact that some singers sang songs and beautifully so; made it all worthwhile

My only wish would be that somewhere, somehow , someone makes a decision, to change the format and the voting system for the better, making the show more conducive for budding talent and thus reaching the ‘Mindblowing’ heights its really meant to reach!....SANS THE DRAMA….dare I add ?????
