Hi my name is Yeshwanth and I will give u a brief report of my Hero Honda Splendor which I bought long back .
I am the 2nd owner of this bike . I bought this bike for 33000 Rs and the bike had clocked around 11000kms. The bike was manufactured in 2005 and I bought it in 2007 . So overall the bike is 5 years old .The following is a ownership report of the bike and these are only my views and ideas .Looks :There is nothing much to talk about in this segment . Its a plain looking bike and is as dull as it gets . No head turning design . Its just a engine with a seat . So for people who want something more flamboyant they could go for Honda’s .
Engine, Performance, Mileage, Gearbox:
This is the part which gets interesting . The splendor+ which I use is powered by a 99cc engine and its just about adequate for the city . No shattering performance . Its built keeping only one concept in mind MILEAGE..... MILEAGE.... Yes well the engineers at Hero have got this right for sure . The vehicle delivers phenomenal mileage . I am getting around 70km in city . Well u might think this is not much , but for the amount of spirited driving I do this is good . I just rip the engine sometimes so hard and take it to its max levels ( Only some times :) ) , It does its job well here . The torque is very less which means that u cant move the bike from 2nd gear which in turn means that u will have to shift gears a lot ( LOT!!!!!) . Gear shift is pretty neat and good . The gears engage nice and its of quality .
Quality of materials used :The Bike has decent and good quality of plastics used . They are hardwearing and offer feel . I have not changed a single switch in 5 years . I think this kind of quality can be matched by only Honda . One of my friend has a Suzuki Zeus and I feel its switches are flimsy .Handling :If u are thinking of doing some cornering tricks and some drag racing well this is just not the bike . Handling is poor and I lose control if I take a corner at a high speed To sum up my report I feel the splendor is a good bike and its made for the masses . Yes it is a fantastic hit in India and no company has been able to take its share . In my report above I was complaining the bike due to handling and performance reasons . Yes they are not up to the mark . But I ask my self "Maybe I am asking too much??" . This is a pure commuter bike that can transit u from point A to point B .
