Good movie

I have to say this. This movie is a lesson for our youth who consider themselves as Gods gift to mankind. It proves that to be a Hero, your life should have a purpose, some meaning and dedicated to your nation. This movie is about how Sammy(Sohail Khan) and Ali(Vatsal Seth) discover the true heroes through a bike ride from Delhi to Ladakh just to deliver letters to families of the deceased warriors, Balkaar Singh(Salman Khan), Dhananjay Shergill(Bobby Deol) and Sajid Naqvi(Dino Morea).

Balkaar Singh. Meet his gritty wife Kuljeet Kaur(Preity Zinta) who manages the family of Balkaars parents, her son and the whole 9 yards. A strong woman, yet someone who misses her loving husband at times. The scene in which she talks to his uniform will surely make your heart go out to her. Well acted by Preity Zinta.

The scene in which Balkaars son looks at the border and says "They are doing their job and we are doing ours" is a sprinkle on the fact how much in reality the family of the army man are steeled to cope with the loss.

Dhananjay Shergill. Meet his brother Vikram Shergill(Sunny Deol), confined to a wheel chair, but a larger than life attitude and the pride of being the brother of a war hero. His punch line "Thandi Beer yahan par hi milegi" is very catchy. Surely a larger than life performance from Sunny paaji.

The scene where Vikram Shergill says that the enemy soldiers are doing their job and we ours in similarity to what Balkaars son says is touching as well.

Sahil Naqvi. Meet his angry father Dr Naqvi(Mithun Chakraborty) and reconciling proud mother(Prateeksha Lonkar). The father is angry because he has joined the army against his wishes and keeps getting called  before his vacation gets over. Even now he is angry at his son because he promised last time he would come back and didnt keep his promise. A bit dry here, but high on emotional quotient. Few scenes are good

-Dr Naqvi talking looking at his sons card sent to him and saying "I hate you"

-The recording where Sahil is wishing his mother and father and there is war explosion in the background following his death.

-The rugby match in which Dr Naqvi yells "Sahil" when passing the long haul throw to Ali in the excitement.

-Dr Naqvi telling his wife "Our son was a hero"

Performance wise, the ranking goes like this

  1. Salman Khan - Brilliant potrayal of a Sardar speaking chaste Punjabi. Truly awesome performance.

  2. Sunny Deol - Larger than life power packed. Chak De, Sunny Paaji

  3. Preity Zinta - Very restrained toned down in contrast to her bubbly lively image. But well acted. Proven that there is another shade of character she can potray well.

  4. Mithunda - Intense anger and yet  emotional. True potrayal of a father who loves his son and unveils it only at  the right moment. I sometimes think Amitabh Bachchan would have done a better role here.

Bobby Deol and Dino Morea havent got much scope to perform in this movie. So I cant say much on them.

And lets talk of our 2 dudes - Sohail Khan, Vatsal Seth. I think Vatsal Seth has done ok especially in the scenes which need more emotional quotient. He has got the plummer lines of the two. But I still think he has to improve. Sohail Khan is just average. I cant remember a noteworthy performance from him since "I - Proud to be an Indian".

Music is average. Except for "Mannata", "Makhana" nothing worthy here.
