My first kiss... melted in my mouth

Hershey’s Kisses are bite-sized drops of heaven. I don’t remember when I first tried it, but once I started I just couldn’t stop. This has to be the most amazing chocolate the world over. Hershey’s kisses are pure ecstasy, and more than one is ecstasy that many times over. These kisses just melt in your mouth and the sinfully rich chocolate explodes in a symphony of yumminess right in your mouth.

Hershey’s Kisses chocolates were first introduced in 1907. Initially these were wrapped in silver foil only, but from 1962 onwards these were seasonally wrapped in other colors as well. Milton S. Hershey, the corporation’s founder, established a registered trademark for the ’’plume’’ extending out of the wrapper in 1924. A registered trademark for the configuration of Hershey’s Kisses with their familiar foil wrap was established in 1976. It’s not known exactly how Hershey’s Kisses got their name. A popular theory is that the candy was named for the sound or motion of the chocolate being deposited during the manufacturing process. For me the name has always been the most attractive aspect of the chocolate, besides, of course, the rich, creamy, blissful taste. In 1990, there was a major addition to the Hershey’s Kisses franchise when Hershey’s Kisses With Almonds were successfully introduced.

In 1993, Hershey introduced Hershey’s Hugs chocolates, mini Hershey’s Kisses hugged by white chocolate, and Hershey’s Hugs With Almonds. But my all time favorite is the original plain chocolate kisses. Just writing this has left me weak at the knees, craving Hershey’s kisses... So off I go to satisfy my urge, and I suggest next time you’re at a chocolate shop, indulge yourself too, you won’t regret it.
