When the baby makes three men cry..!

Sajid Khan is one of the famous comedians of film industry, though he doesn’t act in movies! He’s an expert in pulling legs and making fun of other films in his serial ‘Ikke Pe Ikka’. And now he steps into the shoes of direction! And he comes out with a fine movie, which has funny moments and also emotional and serious moments and all are equally balanced throughout the movie.

The story of the movie: Aroush (Akshay Kumar), Ali aka Al (Fardeen Khan) and Tanmay (Ritesh Deshmukh) are having the time of their lives in Sydney. The three are young, handsome, cool, stylish and expert in flirting with girls. They have lost count of how many girls they have slept with! One fine day, the doorbell of their house rings and they are shocked to find a baby lying on their doorstep! There was also a letter with the baby in which it was written “Kutte Kamine Apni Beti Ko Sambhal!” The trio then start looking after the baby in each and every way possible. Soon the little girl changes their lives and the three turn into a more responsible men. But at this point of time the mother of the baby Isha (Vidya Balan) land into their house and snatch the baby away from them!

Who is Isha?

Why didn’t she come to take the baby before?

What will happen next?

And who is the father of the child?!

To find out, watch the movie!

Heyy Babyy is a perfect family film. It entertains; it makes you laugh but also makes you moist-eyed.

What is applauding that Sajid bhai, the director doesn’t waste unnecessary time in the beginning. He establishes the 3 main characters in a nice way and then the main story starts immediately. And the director does the same thing throughout the movie-not getting into unnecessary lanes. Due to this, the movie remains interesting till the end.

The first half of the movie was excellent. The first 35-40 minutes was funny and humorous. The highpoint of the first half was when the baby is admitted in the hospital and the trio realizes how much they love the baby. That was the best part of the movie. This sequence also proves that Sajid Khan can be a funny entertainer as well as a serious filmmaker too!

The intermission point was terrific. The flashback in the 2nd half was sweet and romantic. However some of the humorous portions in this half were lackluster. They don’t succeed in making the viewers laugh. Because of which, you are little disappointed when you come out of the theatre.

However, the film bounces back in the last 25 minutes. The climax was excellent, so also the last scene of the movie!

But the best thing about the movie is the baby! The baby is cute and sweet and instantly likeable. And the director inserts scenes involving certain expressions and gestures of baby related to the scene in it because of which it makes one feel that the baby is understanding what is happening in the situation and is reacting to it!! For instance, the trio is talking and the baby is doing “Uh-huh”! Or the three are fighting and the baby laughs! Great work!

Akshay Kumar does quite an impressive job this time! He has done the role of Casanova number of times but this time he plays the same character in a different way because of which he completely succeeds. And he also does a great job in emotional scenes-especially when he is crying. This has to be one of the best performances of Akki! Great work!

Fardeen Khan excels in his role completely. He does a fantastic job in the 2nd half. Great work, Fardeen! Ritesh Deshmukh gives a great performance. He was really very funny when he speaks Marathi!

Vidya Balan was stunning! Till now, we all have seen her in soft romantic roles. But in Heyy Babyy, you get to see her in a completely new avatar! And also she completely gets into the skin of her character. And she’s going to be seen In Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Halla Bol. I am sure that she must have done a great job in these two movies. Good work, Vidya! Keep it up!!

Boman Irani was funny as usual. Anupam Kher does a great job. Shahrukh Khan is there for a song in which he rocks as usual! The 13 heroines who appear in the title song perform their part properly. Aarti Chhabaria, Hrishitaa Bhatt, Payal Rohatgi and Kim Sharma are also seen in the movie but they don’t appear in the songs.

Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music was too good as usual. All songs were great. The best among them are the title track, ‘Dholna’, ‘Meri Duniya Tu Hi Re’.

Himman Dhamija’s cinematography was normal. Editing by Rameshwar Bhagat was perfect. Milap Zaveri does a great job in writing the screenplay and dialogues of the movie.

Sajid Khan does a great work as a director and as a writer too. He successfully handles the funny as well as emotional sequences of the movie! But what is excellent is that all this is done by Sajid in his debut film. This shows his passion and devotion to movies. Great work Sajid! Keep it up!

Some of the best scenes of the movie:

  1. The scene when the Akshay finds the baby at the doorstep

  2. The scene where the trio are like getting tortured by the baby’s constant cry

  3. The scene where baby is hospitalized

  4. The song ‘Meri Duniya Tu Hi Re’

  5. The intermission point

  6. The flashback in the 2nd half

  7. The scene where Fardeen turns into Parimal

  8. The song ‘Mast Kalandar’

  9. The last 20 mins of the movie

On the whole, Heyy Babyy is a great entertainer in which comedy and emotion is properly balanced. It has great performances and a good story. It should be definitely watched. Not to be missed!

(MAKE SURE YOU REACH THE THEATRE ON TIME SO THAT YOU CAN WATCH THE TRAILER OF NO SMOKING, SAAWARIYA AND OM SHANTI OM. NO SMOKING LOOKS LIKE A FANTASTIC FILM FROM THE FANTASTIC DIRECTOR ANURAG KASHYAP. SAAWARIYA’S PROMO WAS OUTSTANDING AND THE MOVIE LOOKS PROMISING. I HAD EXPECTED MUCH FROM OM SHANTI OM’S TRAILER BUT IT DISSAPPOINTED ME A BIT. BUT AS IT IS SAID ‘NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER’. IN THE SAME WAY NEVER JUDGE A MOVIE BY ITS PROMO! THE TRAILER MAY NOT LOOK NICE BUT THE MOVIE MAY BE OUTSTANDING. AND THE SAME THING HAD HAPPENED WITH SRK’S LATEST FLICK CHAK DE! INDIA. SO LET’S JUST HOPE FOR THE BEST!)
