Snobs and Cheats

This is an unfortunate experience I have to put forward here.  Last month I had made a booking to this resort through a local agent - who duely provided me with a voucher towards the booking I had made.  I had driven up to Kodai with my family and so could approach the site of the resort after some very steep climbs through very unmotorable kind of roads full of potholes.  upon reaching the place I was greeted by a very stubborn security person who kept shifting me from one parking spot to another.  At the reception I was made to wait for more than half an hour - a pony tailed man with voice like a barking dog was trying hard to reach his corporate office(apparently) and in that guise he was trying to hatch up a  story saying that my booking was done all wrong and that the tariff had changed in the last few weeks.  so I asked them to provide me a room with a revised tariff.  I had my family with the 2 year old baby - they were impatiently waiting all this while.  after a whole lot of discussions that the managers had they took us around to the room available and the cottage - allowing us a choice of either.  I noticed that the rooms were tidy and clean with the surroundings and the garden well maintained.  And then at the end of it they came up with a revised tariff which turned out to be twice the amount that they had promised me.  this made me realize that they were trying to cheat me by making me wait with my family all that while and apparently thinking that we would settle for the unreasonable rent put in a state of frustration.

as I had the liberty to walk out of the place and drive back to the town - I decided walk out of the place after telling them in clear terms that this was a downright snobbish behaviour on their part to a guest who had come with a voucher.  The manager was trying to be polite but the ealier mentioned reception staff was behaving like a rogue who was all out to drive a guest out of the place.

I would warn people who have no means of travel not to get misled into booking stay so far from the Kodai lake - one would have to shell out a ransom to hire a taxi to reach this place and then one is stuck here - because any conveyance back to the sight seeing places of Kodai would be a very difficult proposition.  Being a sterling member I drove down to the Lake view sterling and was fortunate to get a room there inspite of no advance booking being made there.  There I was received by a Sardarji who was very polite and kind to immediately show me one of the available rooms - the staff were also very cultured and nice to us.  the food there was excellent. with wandering around the lake being so much easy with us being able to stay near by.
