First the changes in activa 5g:
Apart from the two front chrome lines the design is exactly the same as the previous generation. But Honda is offering an LED headlamp and pilot lamp. And surprisingly these headlight is bright, brighter than most of the expensive scooters than it. But there is still a traditional bulb in tail light apart from the headlight the headlamp and the tail lamp lenses get new textures too. The black rubber apron on the front is in new shape and theres a 5g badge on the side as well. The activa 5g is also available in deluxe variant which gets a semi digital instrumental cluster it looks quite neat and theres even a clock, trumpeter, eco indicator and a service reminder. The cluster also gets a car like backlight which looks really nice. But the trip button is little too hard to operate. It also gets a remote seat opener which is quite handy. But the fuel cap is still under the seat.
As it is a next generation generation activa but Honda is still not offering disc brakes, alloy wheels and telescopic suspension even in the deluxe variant and the mobile charger in the boot is still an optional accessory and you dont even get a boot light. The activa under seat storage is also 18L but it cant carry anything large along with your helmet. It also cant carry large helmets.
The new generation activa dont have much exterior changes or changes on body panel to differentiate it from the previous models. But the body remains exactly the same which is a bit disappointing and lack of features like disc brakes, mobile charger, alloy wheels, boot light keeps it away from feeling premium. Honda should have shifted to a telescopic setup which have provided better stability and ride quality.
Expect the new 5g badge the activa has the same engine of 109.19cc which provides 8ps of power @ 7500 rpm and 9nm torque @ 5500rpm. The motor feels refined and the vibration is kept well under control. The activa 5g runs on 10 inch wheels and 130 mm drum brake setup at both front and rear.
The activa doesnt feel quick to get off the line its pickup is little bit slow than its competBrianbalakumaranrs but from 20-80 kmph the pickup is quite impressive and helps to pass traffic swiftly. The feel from the brake lever is lacking and you have to squeeze them really hard to a stop quickly. Also the bucking of the front suspension every time you hit brake does become irritating over time.
Mileage is 58 kmpl with the fuel tank capacity of 5.3 L.
If you are looking for something basic for the entire family then this is a good choice. BUT, if you are looking for premiumness and features then there are others better options than this in the market in the same price range.
