To start with, I am a happy customer of Honda Activa bought 3 months back from Dream Honda Bangalore and done 700 km so far.
I am not a enthusiast driver for 2 or 4 wheeler at all therefore style and speed was not carrying lot of weightage when planning to buy a 2-wheeler.
My research starts with all possible 2 wheeler from Bajaj to Yamaha and others. I never considered Activa in list because of so called’waiting period’ which was 4-6 month some time back. After due consideration to all 2 wheeler(including test drive for bikes from TVS, Bajaj, Yamaha, Hero and Enfield) I zeroed down on scooter and that was TVS WEGO. It was almost decided when I got chance to visit Honda dealer and he informed that Activa is available off the shelf now. It was like a WOW for me. I test drove it and decided on the spot. Finally I paid 60K total for a fully loaded Activa in white colour and here is what I feel today about it.
Activa is great Scooter from ‘easy riding’ point of view.
It gives me 50 km per liter constently from the day 1. Fuel used are sometime Shell or some time normal also.
My driving speed is~45 km per hour.
Engine sound is very smooth and riding experience is good.
Storage space is decent.
Breaks are good unless you are driving on dry mud and stopping suddenly.
Body balance is good
Pick is superb.
What I think should be improved:
After 65km speed, it vibrates.
Look heavy.
Filling fuel is not easy as we have to open the dickey every time.
Parking breaks are not placed correctly and should be easily operable.
Fuel tank is small which leads more visit to petrol bunk.
So why did I leave WEGO!
Well the reason is, when I was reviewing 2 wheelers, mostly they were compared with Activa for example’pick is as good as active’ or’ comfort is as good as active’. This leads to a thought that why anything else and why not the benchmark. During that time, TVS WEGO was suffering from battery issue(in some cases).
Why not bike: Simple, I do not want to struggle with gears, clutch and breaks separately. (Of course, this is my choice and may not true for others)
Overall, I am very very happy with this scooter and loves driving to office every day.
