If your final choice for buying variomatic gear scooter has got down to Honda Activa or Kinetic Nova, read on. Choosing between the two is a tough decision to make. This review will give you a clearer unbiased view

- Activa.
(a) Engine more responsive.
-More suitable for young riders/males/those who want to
zip around the town.
-Could be problematic for ladies/old people/people with
back problem as quick acceleration/deceleration could be jerky.
(b) More Ergonomic.
-Good flat floorboard, seat and handlebar placement.
-Both rider and pillion very comfortable.
-Foot rests for pillion placed with precision.
- Nova
(a) Better mileage -Has an advantage of 7 to 12 Km/litre.
(b) More storage space under seat.
(c) More accessories . Provides accessories worth RS
1000/- over and above provided by Activa. Since Nova Cost about that much more it is compensated by additional accessories.
(d) Looks more attractive - Has looks to turn heads but
some may prefer Activa’s plainer and more practical looks.
- Other points
(a) Lights , starting and ground clearance - Not much
difference.
(b) Height of stepney more in case of Activa.
(c) Activa provides a tuff up tube and a softer suspension. Softer suspension will be preferable on good roads. On potholes and kuchha tracks Nova’s harder suspension is preferable.
(e) Colours
- Activa. Maroon and black look the best, but most people
prefer silver. I don’t know why.
- Nova. With Grey Base of ABS, only Black colour looks
good, grey is passable.
(f) Activa has steel body and Nova ABS. ABS body makes it
about 10 Kgs lighter and easier to handle.
4.Miscellaneous:
Kinetic has been churning out more & more
audacious looking models e.g., Style, Marvel, etc., which look like pieces from outer space. Their Standard Models of DX, ZX look much better. Hence this may cause worry to the user that in future newer looking models may come &
he is left with an outdated looking scooter. Human Psyche wants that what they possess must not only be unique but also be possessed by some more people. In that plainer looking Activa may be preferred.
- Final Decision
(a) Activa. If you don’t mind losing a few Kms of mileage
and prefer practical and no nonsense plainer looks and want to zip around in the city with some style.
(b) Nova. If you don’t mind being flamboyant , and don’t
want to accelerate from 0 to 50 Kmph faster than Activa , want to travel on highways using its better top speed of 83 Km/h and have no fear that Kinetic will not bring a new looking scooter in a very near future.
