Honda activa is one of the first products of HMSI (Honda Motorcycles & scooters India pvt Ltd.). It made an impact in the indian automobile industry by providing a 102cc, 4 stroke engine with automatic transmission, shelling out a power of 7 bhp. Honda activa was the first vehicle in our family. My dad bought it in 2003 for his personal use. I was studying in 8th std that time. So, Activa is the first vehicle I have driven in my life.
Since then, we have maintained it very well. We did regular services at proper times, changed tyres when worn out & retained it in good shape. Till now it had run more than 29000 kms & it constantly delivers a mileage of 45-48kmpl.
Now, Im doing my graduation in Automobile Engineering. I have analysed almost all the vehicles running on the Indian roads. I have ridden almost all bikes in different power ranges. But the feel which Activa gives me is so special. Even though its specification shows only 7 bhp, we could get a feeling that theres more than a 7 bhp. It is so smooth on the highways. We feels that we are riding a cruise bike.
My long drive experience.
Last month me & my friends went for a long drive to Chittar Dam (near kanyakumari, south india), which is about 75 kms from my home. I took my Activa while my friends came in with latest 150cc bikes. They made fun of me seeing that im taking an Activa for a long drive. They told that I wont reach home in good shape that day. We started off. The road was straight & traffic less. All of us were blazing in good speed. 150cc boys were racing like Rossi. I was far behing in the race. The maximum speed I could get in my Activa was about 85kmph, which I felt was terrific in a 102 cc engine. While Apache & Pulsar buffs compalined about vibration of their bikes at speeds excees of 70, my Activa was rock solid in that speeds. It was so smooth as if I was going in 40kmph. I asked one of my friend who has an RTR 160 to ride my Activa in its top speed. He too felt that the vehicle is not vibrating.Guys, remember....im talking about a vehicle which is 7 yrs old & had already covered 29000 kms in its life.
By this experience, I became more dearer to my Activa. Full marks for its reliability & comfortness.
Hats off to HMSI Engineers.
