Honda Aviator

Background:

Prior to this I have owned 3 two-wheelers : Hero Honda Splendor (92000Kms), Fiero F2 (53000Kms) and Scooty Pep+ (10200Kms). This time I wanted to exchange my bike and get a decent vehicle for daily commuting in Pune area (from Hadapsar to Kothrud)So decided to go for a auto-gear scooter.

Choices were simple

1. Activa

2. Access

Flyte, Scooty, Pleasure all are designed for girls (my thinking)Activa and Access are more designed towards unisex

Purchase:

So I went to take test ride of both vehicles. Access somehow did not appeal to me.(may be it looks too much like a typical scooter - again this is my opinion)

When I went for activa ride, I was encountered with Aviator. At first I was not really impressed by its looks, however after the test ride I was sure that I am going to go for Aviator instead of Activa.

I really liked the height of this vehicle. Felt as if I am sitting on a bike. Also the comfort and of course the trusted brand "Honda"

Fortunately, there were 3 Aviators in stock with Yash Automobiles (Hadapsar, Pune). Colors were Gray, Silver and Purple.I decided to go for silver.(why I am saying fortunately is because there is a waiting period of 4-5 weeks for Aviator and 6-8 weeks for Activa)

I purchased the scooter last week and really liked the comfort it is offering me in the traffic of Pune.

Pros:

1. Seating comfort for both Rider and Pillion

2. Handling on turns

3. Height :)

4. Fuel Efficiency

5. Storage

Cons:

There is actually nothing in this for now, however I will definitely update this once I find it :)

Fuel Efficiency:

Today morning I went to fill the petrol (I did the full tank immed after the purchase - reading was 5kms).

The total petrol that fitted in the tank was 3.5 liters and my reading was 163. So for fuel efficiency: 163 (current reading) - 5 (inital reading at filling the tank to its full) = 158 / 3.5 liters = 45.14KMPL

Conclusion:

I must say that I am proud owner of a Honda Aviator and I am loving this vehicle. I am not really very consious about fuel efficiency. Any thing above 40kmpl is fine with me. However this one is already giving me 45kmpl pre servicing.

Note:

1. I will update my review after first servicing with details of fuel efficiency (since over 90% of us think about fuel efficiency first)

2. I am also going to post a video review on youtube and shortly update the url here in this review.

Advice to those looking for a purchase:

1. Short list the vehicles

2. Take test rides (may be 2-3 times)

3. Dont digg much into all the comparisons you will find on internet (about CC, BHP, etc...). It will just add to confusion

4. Just make sure that there is not any particular issue with that model

5. Select the one you feel comfortable while you took the test ride.
