I bought a 102 cc model on 20 Nov. 2009.clocked 14000 km .Its a drum brake model. It gives a mileage of 35 on my daily college commute in Doon. I ride solo .weight 80 kg. I usually ride it at avg. 50-60kmph. long travel is tiring. In hilly region 102 cc model is use less . Handling is good but mileage is poor.rough and tough controls.good breaks.seat a bit uncomfortable for tall rider. Im 510.but mileage is now ruining life.still 110 cc model is best in class.it is the best scooter in India.
This is an update. I changed my filter(primary) and now it gives me an average economy of 39kmpl.Its 6km more when driving with a clogged filter. However during my daily college commute I noticed that the suspension is not as good as it appears to be .In hilly region I usually switch off the ignition during descent and thats when I made certain observations. At a speed of less than 25kmph you can feel every pothole and elevation on the road. Its very uncomfortable. Also the pointer in the speedometer dial keeps on vibrating at low speeds .Maybe thats just in my aviator but it was not expected form a "Honda" product. The slightly split seat is extremely uncomfortable. You either sit too close to the handlebars or far away. Its never perfect for tall riders. The ignition switch came off loose, bad engineering.Apart from these I have noticed some design related issues.
1-The front nose piece panel that covers the horn bay uses four screws to fix it properly. The lower two screws are tightened into the indicator lights fixture which are made of plastics. As time passes, on account of regular maintenance work required, the threads wear out and the lower bolts are never fully tightened.this leads to a lot of vibration .This could have been avoided by using metal inserts or whatever.
2-The air filter cover is a havoc to remove. Its very tightly packed and almost every time theres a chance of damaging the primary air filter during maintenance.
3- The seat assembly. Its good enough but theres still scope for improvement. It besides moving to-and-fro about the hinge also moves in the y-z plane.I agree there has to be some play in the fixture but this sometimes makes locking the seat a bit tedious.
4-Mostly during the monsoons the kick lever jams.it never returns back and losses the rebound spring action.A better washer around the kick lever may sort things out, but this is a problem I have been facing in my Activa too.I have now clocked 14000km and apart from these quirks everythings fine with my scooter.
