: NEW CITY EXI a car which is hot selling and has left competition far behind- new city’s sales are 35 % higher than those of Accent & Ikon which was certainly not the case with the old city
Reasons for success-
Value for money- 7 -7.5 lacs and u get urs money worth.
Class Interiors-which are more towards D-Segment rather than C segmt in terms of both space& luxury
Mileage- Unbeatable for a big car
Looks + dimensions: May not be liked by all , some say it looks smaller but is actually 400 mm longer than the older city+ it’s increased hieght(1495mm about 100 mm longer than old city) is quite visible- Looks pretty huge from the back due to huge boot of 490 litres and all in all does look pretty sophisticated with nice lights -pretty high class as compared to the ikon, accent.
Fact- new Honda city(4310) is the longest car in C-segment - bigger than lancer(4290), accent(4250), baleno(4225) and ikon(4150) besides being the broadest(1695) and tallest(1495)
surprise-arent you probably tall looks and curves and merging lines make it look smaller
From certain angles city looks absloutely amazing sporty and sleek but not from all angles though-probably- side angle and slighltly from the back -In the traffic lights definitely city gets a lot of attention as compared to other cars(unconventional looks may be the reason)
Performance etc- Not as good as the old city but decent enough for city traffic reduced power from 100 to 77 bhp doesnt feel like though.Ride quality is excellent too.
Maneouvarability- Pretty good due to short front and parking problems are lesser
Interiors- Excellent-Come to the finest part of the new city-Chauffer driven is ideal no problem at all for the rear passenger -excellent leg room as compared to lancer, accent , baleno+ hieght advantage you sit higer off the ground rather than low slung in cars mentioned above Huge boot-490 litres as compared to accent(320), optra(400)
Mileage-gives 13 kmpl in city driving with a/c on always -although IVE HEARD THAT CVT AUTOMATIC IS GIVING VERY LOW MILEAGE 10-11 kmpl
But ground clearance is very low that is because of lowered car floor in an attempt to provide more comfort.It suffers from hitting on speedbreakers-That is very bad considering that the city is a very very tall car(1495mm) as compared to accent(1390) ikon(1379) & optra(1445) all of which have beter ground clearance.
All in all a very good product which suffers from no problem-I think entry level buyers shud be lured to go straight from santro/matiz to honda city just like what we did rather than look for smaller cars like Ikon, Corsa, Indigo which have no space and mileage.
