I want to share an experience that I had with Honda Car Service center, Shaman Motors, Kalina, Mumbai. The message is long but important. Please do share!
Known for their product quality and good services, I opted to buy a Honda City back in 2013. Since then I have been regular with all my services till date at the authorised service center at Kalina, Mumbai. Infact I was convinced to even go for the paid extended comprehensive warranty.(Expires in May 2016)
Recently while my family was traveling to pune, the car stalled and wouldnt start. It was in the middle of the Mum-Pune expressway. We got the car towed to the service center as anyone covered in warranty would do.
Now here is the best part, the honda engineers after going through the car refused me repairs under warranty. On discussing, the reason of engine stalling was unknown to them and we got different answers from different engineers. Using all their technical jargons they put the blame on us saying or I should say assuming that the engine had over heated and stalled. "Warranty main ek paisa nai milega" their exact words.
The reason for engine heating up even after getting all the services done on time was the question I put in front of them. Answer, " Sir engine kholna padega toh reason malum padega" which meant "we will have to disassemble the engine to diagnose the reason. Reluctantly I gave them permission to go ahead not only to diagnose but also to know the actual value of the repairs. Couple of days later I get a quote of approximately 2 lakhs to fix the engine.
I was sure that at least now the reason of engine heating up would be known. Guess what? They now say they have to make the engine running again to diagnose the reason. We also requested to give us in writing what were the tests carried out, they refused us saying the estimate is what they can give.
I even wrote emails explaining the details to the honda car india customer relations, but in vain. No reply from them till date. This was not expected from a company like #Honda
My Car is still lying in the service center and I am figuring out my next action.
I wanted to share this, so that people should be aware about the true motive of such big companies.
I would not recommend anyone to believe in extended warranties and would suggest to get your car fixed by a local but trusted mechanic instead of highly priced and dishonest service centers.
