Dio...My first ride

I had just finished my CLASS 12 when I bought my first set of wheels. It was the HONDA DIO.Lets just remind you of its specs.Dio uses the 102cc engine of Activa, it produces 7bhp of power. Its fuel capacity is 6 litres, and weighs 110kgs.I bought in in 2004.It costed me Rs.42, 000(kerala) to buy the dio. But, i think the price has come down now.I got it delivered within two days. The engine is a sure delight, its smooth and silent.

The throttle response is top class. The vehicle altogether gives a sporty look with the headlight placed lower in the front. Its easy to ride and handle dio through heavy traffic. Its light to handle. Now, to ride pillion on dio needs some getting used to because there are no foot-pegs for the pillion rider.Instead, there are some dents for you to place your feetSo, it would be a bit uncomfortable for the first few days.Overall ride quality of the dio is remarkable. Also, the fuel consumption ain’t bad either.I got 43-45kmpl.Also, i managed to hit a top speed of around 80kph.The dio don’t need any heavy maintanence compared to its competitors. The one thing I sorely miss on the dio is the absence of TELESCOPIC FORKS in the front.

Dio employs hydraulic suspension in the front which makes riding through rough roads a bit handful.I experienced vibrations around 2yrs after purchase. And I experienced front panel rattling also. So, be careful while riding through potholes. The dio was proving to be a treat to ride.Just recently, i experienced really bad knee pains while riding the dio.Maybe, its the hydraulics in the front of dio that caused the pain.I had no other option but to sell it.I then bought a bike and now I feel much better. But, i do have to say that if you are looking for a good gearless scooter, the stylish HONDA DIO is a worthy option.
