Good family plus youth bike

I started riding in hero honda splendor and then took TVS apache 150cc. Then when I wanted to buy a fresh new bike, I used to come to mouthshut.com and read most of the reviews and finally settled on Honda Unicorn. My height is just 5’ 6", So I needed a bike, which my feet could reach the ground. Everyone recommended Unicorn, 2nd option was Yamaha FZ. But the 2 main defaults of FZ made me change my mind. Like mileage, the backseat was too raised for pillion rider(esp. lady, after marriage) and also the price was more. The I thought of Hero Honda Hunk also, but it was a bit too big for. I did a test drive of it.

Finally When I settled for Unicorn, and went to the showroom I really liked its new look, fully black with metallic embossed stickers, which was quite different from the previous Unicorns. Also this is a bit lower in height comparatively.

The few things which I found missing in this from others bikes were, it does not have switch off button for the engine, which was really useful at signals without having to move my hand to turn off the keys. 2nd is the park light. Though its not a big deal, I have been used to that. Then fixing the seat after storing the papers and toolkit is a bit difficult in this, compare to the Apache I had.I have to struggle a bit. I raised this point at service station also, but they were not able to help much.

Mileage is pretty decent. I think around 45-50 kms/litre(I use only Shell), there’s so much cheating in almost all other pumps, I will write a separate article on that later. I didnt have any much problems with the bike and I do servicing from Honda service centre only.

There are few minor faults which I found. There was a bit of wobbling in front sometimes, once I take it to the service station, they do some minor tweaking, then the problem goes for sometime. I had this problem with Apache also. I cant figure out the exact reason. Few of my friends rode and they didnt have any problem. It is very slight and its not there all the time. If someone had this problem and had it rectified please let me know how. I am wondering if its the disc brake that creates the problem or the weight in the back, Cos if have pillion rider its sort of lower.

I have been using this for nearly an year now. recently we shifted to a new house. Here the climate is a bit more cold. Then I found that the bike had another problem. It needs some nice warming up before you can ride properly.
