BAD PEROL TANKS, BAD SERVICE

I own a Honda Unicorn(Purchased from an auhorised dealer). It has a BAD PETROL TANK.

I’ve had 2 Tanks Rust from the inside in two years.

The service engineer noticed that the inside of the petrol tank had rusted and the tank was changed. One would say good service; I thought so too.

Now after 2 years since I purchased the bike; the 2nd tank too has rusted from the inside. A tank should never rust from the inside.  Looks to me that the tanks used in Honda bikes are substandard(It only takes one rain to rust it from the INSIDE).

One CANNOT AFFORD TO CHANGE THE TANK AFTER EVERY RAINY SEASON.

I wrote to Honda and it was a struggle to get thru to them.  The transferred the case to a local office in Mumbai.  CS manager called me the next day and I went to see him.

The response I received was that since my bike was out of warranty, the tank could not be changed.

There was a suggestion made to me too, Insurance (probably meaning, "Get your tank damaged and we will change it for you. what if our tanks are cheap; there is insurance to take care of that").

I never expected this from Honda.

After a few phone calls and a lot of talking, on of the guys in Pune office finally agreed to change my tank for free(Good will). I’m waiting for it to rust again. I know it will. This time there will be no good will.:-)

Get reviews from Honda owners and ask them to show you their bike’s petrol tank especially if it has been through rains.

It is your decision now.
