I own my unicorn since Nov 2007, have completed 40000 Kms. I am happy with it now. First of all, I have to say abt its build quality. Excellent quality can be felt even in a single nut. Getting milage of 60KMPL avg, on village roads. It is excellent to control, very well stable in corners . you can make a corner atleast 5kmph more on my previous bike pulser.
But not so satisfied in perfomance . It cannot give the punch at starting as pulser can. Reason is the poor bottom end power delivery. Gear ratios are some what heavy resulting in shifting it to first at bumps. Pulser is good and superior to it in straight line pickup, acceleration, breaking and ride. But much inferior to unicorn in build quality. Unicorn is also good in mid range which make it comfortable and smooth in long rides. It is silent and smooth as a lady while crusing in that speed. Perfomance is betterr in speeds of 60-80 KMph. Drivability and handling is excellent.
Terrible experience has to be faced at honda service centers.The intresting thing is that I found no problem before taking it for servicing at servicee centers, but after it, so many like wrong tuning of engine. I always tune it to 1000 RPM but after service, it found 2500.They will not wash the vehicle properly, and never care about battery water level, tyre pressure etc. I found that they were not servicing my bike but making it worse.I stopped servicing it with them @ 20000KMs . The last service I made on it in showroom is two years back but the fact is that still there is no sign of any problem in bike.I made engine oil replacement in every Quarters of an year and adjustments in chain sag and luberications in every 1500 Kms myself. Bike is in perfect condition even today after two years of service. I like and rRajeev_Vermact it because of reliability. It seems reliable than a new pulsar.
I made a long trip from trivandrum to trissur yesterday on it ie, 330KMs in a day. I hold it to speed of 60-65 some times 70. the bike seems cool till I reach my destination, giving me a mileage of 68 KMPL. For making a cool long trip in a bike without two years of service in service centre is possible only in unicorn and reason for it is their build quality. This is the incident which make me a fan of my bike after three years of ownership. Now I love my bike.
Hai every body. I get my bike serviced, changed both the tires costs about 3700 rupees( MRF Zappers including tubes). AND ONE THING I RECOMMENT YOU MOST. Honda introduced new air filter which is a ’’VISCOUS AIR FILTER’’ . I placed it in my unicorn and feels great difference in mileage and power. it is really a boon for unicorn. It also reduces the power lag at cold start. I recommend it hardly for every unicorn users. It costs only about RS 200-, but it makes ur bike really good. If u don’t have viscous filter in ur bike, please fix it and fell the difference.
