I have bought Honda Unicorn around 2007, and have been using it on daily basic. It is my first possession I purchased after I started earning my self. I was having quite a few option that time like Bajaj pulser, Apache, Hero Honda CBZ in 150 cc bike segment. I removed Hero Honda CBZ from option as hero honda has lost its creativity after launch of classic CBZ. I removed Apache from my option because I thought it is kind of small for person of my size. then I was left with pulser and unicorn.
Then I decide to take test ride for both bike. Though I think pulser is great bike. I decided to purchase Unicorn because of it price and it comfort it provide long drive. It provides good comfortable sitting position which is necessary if you are planning to drive for long duration.
Maintenance wise also its cost effective. After using unicorn for almost 2 year I never have to go for any major maintenance except then regular servicing. Most surprising incident happen with Unicorn and me that prove reliability of unicorn is, Once I was on vacation for two week and there was having rain at my place. I had parked my bike at underground parking area and due to heavy rain parking was filled with water. Water level was about 2 feel and water went inside my bike’s engine, silencer and almost every internal part of my bike. Then I came to my home and tried to start bike.
Of course if did not start and I realize that some thing is wrong with bike and eventually I realize that water had went inside bike. I was quite worried that if ever my bike will start again and if start how much I have to pay for it. But I took it near by garage and to my relief mechanic told me it will get ok after service and no major harm done to bike and he took 250Rs and gave me bike on next day and I went to my office on it as I do every day.
Look wise if quite ok, not that great but not bad at all. Fuel consumption is also ok it is around 45 to 50, not bad, but wan’t say it good or great. I am not going to put any technical detail or specification as you can find it on Company’s web site but overall I am happy with Unicorn’s performance and service it has render to me.
