I got my Unicorn 150cc on June 2011 as a gift from my father. I was really excited and as a traveler, I covered whole Kerala with my Unicorn. Last year I sold my Unicorn as I got job abroad. WRONG DECISION I EVER MADE. I will tell you the pros and cons I faced while using my Unicorn.
Fuel Consumption:
Most time I got mileage around 50-55 km/l at highways. Mostly I ride at a speed between 60-70 km/hr. As my home is situated in Kerala, we got lot of terrains and hills over here. In my local use I got around 45-50 km/l.
Comfort:
Hey. Come on it is a Honda. I have rode all the bikes in that segment and I can say that it is way more comfortable than any of the bikes in that segment. The gear shift is smooth, Brake is intact, lights are ok.
Reliability:
It was the more reliable bike in that segment. The service charge including the oil change would cost me around 1000rs and I maintain to service at every 3000kms.
Handling and Control:
Believe it or not, I have crossed 120 km/ hr on my Unicorn. And the handling was perfect. The braking time I got was about 5-10 sec from 120-0.
Looks:
Some of you might think that the Unicorn is somewhat oldschool. I think it has got good looks but not as much as yamahas.
Pros:
1. Reliable
2. Excellent Mileage
3. Good re-sell value
4. Good service
Cons:
1. Brakes sometimes are not intact
2. Have to change chain and sprocket frequently
3. I had some electrical problems on my Unicorn which got rectified after a lot of arguments with the local dealer
4. Low initial acceleration
