Hopefully the world is up to the mark, and hopes that Door keeps all the artists in a wreath in director Deepak Bandopadhyays Hope and Hum. Every character in the story is in the hope of some hope and when everyones expectations are fulfilled in the climax of the film, then you yourself depart from the cinema hall with those pieces of hope.
The story is very simple. Nagesh Shrivastav(Nasiruddin Shah) is a very wise and responsible elderly, but when it comes to retiring the photocopy machine of his father-in-laws father, they begin to tactic to keep him as a child. Actually, this photocopy machine provided the family with security and protection during their struggle. Nageshs son Neeraj(Aamir Bashir) is engaged in the promotion of promotion, while his wife(Sonali Kulkarni) wants his father-in-law to say goodbye to that machine and make that room a daughters reading room. Nageshs connection to the photocopy machine is understood only by his younger grandson Anu(Kabir Sajid). Nagesh hopes that the damaged parts of the old machine will be found somewhere. In the meantime, Nageshs younger son Nitin(Naveen Kasturiya) brings a new-look and advanced photocopy machine to his father from Dubai, and at the same time, the cost of the phone is lost. There is a mistake in the house of Nanny who has gone there and now he is hoping to improve that mistake.
Hopes of director Sudip Bandopadhyay and we have several layers and issues in the story. He has also tried to narrate the philosophy of fate along with hope in the film. His characters appear to be true and intuitive, but in many places in the film, they lose their grip and the story begins to look flat. The film could have been made more interesting with the help of screenplay, yes there are some light-hearted moments in the film, which force them to smile.
Naseeruddin Shah kept his character as usual as usual. They seem to be trustworthy in the role of Nagesh Srivastava. Right there, child artist Kabir Sajid has done a fine job with them. Nanhe Kabir has shown his childs mental duality very well. There was nothing like Sonali Kulkarni doing in the roll. If there was a better scene in the part of a powerful actress like him, then the story could have been energized. Amir Bashir and Nitin Kasturiya are fine. In the film, composer Rupert Fernandes could not make music favorable.
