Thanks all for your honest reviews. Horsely hills, as read from so many reviews is a good place for a relaxed vacation. However, when I visited Horsley Hills with my wife during the time of new year, we had a bad experience. We started from Bangalore taking the route "Bangalore > Hospet > Kolar-bye-pass > Mulbagal > Palamaner > Madanapalle > Horsely Hills".
The roads in Bangalore are wide, but under-construction. The road in Andhra are relatively narrow but in good condition. However, 20 Km before Horsely hills, the roads get bad (after Madanapalle).
You will find more pot-holes on the road than any other road in Bangalore. After this 20KM stretch, you will reach the entrance of Horsley Hills. Here you will have to pay a small toll for vehicle entry. Once you climb up the hill, which is much shorter than Nandi hills in Bangalore, you will find Governors bunglows, which is a great place to stay, as the view from here is amazing. We had picked the New years eve to visit this place. When we started climbing the hill, we could see a large number of people coming down from this hill.
As we got closer to this place, we could see the crowd increasing, and people shouting "Happy new year". Every person passing by screamed those words. I had never seen so much energy in a crowd. Once we reached the top of this hill, the crowd numbers were much higher. We encountered a mad crowd. All shouting on top of their voices, shaking auto-rickshaws driving like crazy people, tapping on my car.
It was a real-cheap crowd. Looking at the crowd behavior we decided to return back without getting out of our car. Most of the crowd was all-men, mostly drunken. I am sure this place is a pleasant stay for many, but I just wanted to inform all to avoid going to places like these with ladies during new years eve.
