First of all, Hot Millions to me is like Pop Tate to Archie / Jughead... I have been going there since the first restaurant opened way, way back! I saw the hard work that Col AB Singh and his wife did to set it up. It was pure hard work...
And then came other restaurants which temporarily whisked away crowd at HM.. like Terminal One (TO), which introduced an overhead projector, and played MTV/Pepsi commercials. Well they were no match for the HMs! The TO is now HM 2!!
Gradually the HM empire grew... fueled by the desire of people to have delicious food, and now we see HMs crop up across Punjab and "raaz" in US as well...
Some good stuff to have at HM’s -
Salad/Buffet at HM Salad bar, sec 17 (better than the salads at most hotels including Taj), Sizzlers
Chicken Kathi Kabab, Sheekh Kabab, Burgers, Onion Chicken Capsicum Pizza, Fresh Lime with Soda have been my personal favorite
Dessert - Hot Choc Fudge Sundae (this is the next best in India I have tasted after Nirulas)
I am away from Chandigarh since many years and I simply miss this place, despite going to other joints in various cities in India.....
Biggest Pro’s of this place - I have NEVER NEVER ever been sick even once after eating the food.. its absolutely hygienic....and of course, tasty food
Cons - Prices are a little high, the drought beer at Down Under tastes like water at times (recommend you to have bottled beer)
personally, I feel one thing is behind success of this place.. generous helping of oil esp in Kathi Kababs... as Harper rightly said (First line in chapter Fats in Biochemistry book at our time) - "Fats make food palatable".. I think he said it all!!!!
