We reached ooty from kodaikanal and it was almost 5 pm. We check some hotel and most of them were full and we were 7 ppl with kids and infants, we required atleast 2 rooms. Finally we could find rooms in Glanton Manor (and they had many room available whereas other hotels were completely booked).
The reception area looked good and we checked rooms and they looked relatively less maintained as per the rates they were quoting but we wanted to finalize asap so we don’t spend lots of time. After negotiation, they finalized 2 rooms @ 1900/room including extra bed.
We paid 2000 as advance. (Smart move by hotel). We kept out luggage and after getting fresh and all , left for market and having dinner. Post dinner, we reached hotel at 10 and requested the house keeping to put the extra bed (which we finalized at booking at 5 pm) . And what ....believe me...they said they don’t have extra bed, they have already added it to some other rooms which they booked just 1 hr back.
Well we went to reception to discuss and they said we can’t do anything, housekeeping messed up putting the beds in other rooms (how the hell house keeping guy would do this with manager asking him to put extra bed). We were amazed :). We said were are we suppose to sleep we 2 kids and 1 infact ? They said we can’t do anything...if you want you can leave...wow...at night ten, with quite cold and little rain, are we suppose to search a hotel at 10. We asked him to give some alternate room, they say everything is booked...where as we knew hotel is not full. We said pay us the amount we would be paying, we will switch to some othe hotel...everything on deaf ears.
And the manager managing the night shifts says I haven’t booked your room so talk to guy who finalized. Where am I suppose to search the guy who booked my room in ooty ?
This is was the most pathetic hotel and service I have ever used in my life....not even in hotel where I paid 800 a day ...have had bad experiences in 5* hotels too but this was out of this world.
