Ideally situated but over-priced

We had to go to the US Embassy for a visa interview and Hotel Krishna Palace Residency seemed to be the only decent hotel in the vicinity. A search on the net indicated favorable reviews.

To start with , the taxi guys from the Airport dint seem to know where the hotel is and it is not difficult to see why as we discovered when we landed up at the lobby. The address says ’Slater road’ , nobody in Mumbai seemed to know where this road is. It is actually on the beginning of Grant Road, right on the road-over-rail bridge, on a by-lane and the taxi just went past it , before we made inquiries and took a u-turn.

We made the booking on the net, the website of the hotel itself and got a confirmation email. I though that was cool only to discover that the lobby had no idea of the booking ?!! After an irritating wait, we were given a room coz it was available. The room cramped, with just one single sofa and a king-sized bed. You have to bathe in the tub and then the tub would not drain out fast enough for the nest person to step in ! We tried to regulate the AC temperature to no avail. The complimentary breakfast comprised of an assortment of cereal and sandwiches and choice of eggs.

No great shakes. We told them we’ll check out by a specified time well in advance and yet it took the front office 20 min to make the bill, which was 6300 for a 14 hr stay. The actual price is apparently 8000 plus and we were given a discount !! Its not worth more than 3000.
