Hotel Malvan, Thane once used to be our choice of restaurant for Malvani food in Thane. The reason I am writing this review is that it was a good to very good restaurant serving Malvani food in Thane 5 years back. Even though the place was stinking and with below par ambiance we were visiting this place for food which was very good.
The crab masala, gaboli, and malvani thali was our fav items.However, few days back when my family went there, in March 2008, in the afternoon at 1.15 p.m. and ordered the food it was a bizarre experience! When asked about our order about 20 mins afterwards we were told that we will start preparing now. .the same experience was faced by 2 other families sitting in a family section.
A member from one of the family sitting there went to the kitchen and saw that staff was sort of fighting amongst themselves(to avoid work).
When we asked if we can go.we overheard from the manager handling galla .that we can go if wanted. I havent experienced such pathetic attitude &service from staff at any place. We were shocked by indifferent attitude shown by owner/manager. We got up and we also saw other 2 families were also following suit.
Drawing from my vast & varied experience I am sure that the owner has either gone in to politics.and doing well.or has become a builder.and now doesnt bother much to run the joint. The joint? Yes, by the way hotel’s outside section, where liquor is served in quarter system, was doing well catering to agents of all sort.
One thing is sure for us - Malvan chapter is closed for us forever.
