Strange but true. When I say Darjeeling Sinclairs was the worst hotel I have been to, I am also agreeing that the best hotel I have been to is from the same group but in Dooars.
The bad experience in Darjeeling hotel starts with the reception, where no one is worried about customer service. Once you enter the room, you get shock of your life time when you see rooms for which you are paying 3000 plus a day. They cheat you by charging differnt rates for differnt rooms saying that higher rate ones are facing kanchanjunga. Our room was supposed to be premium one, but just in front of our window was a huge tree so we had no view of the snow-covered mountains from our room for which we were paying extra.
They had central heating, but it was not working, so they gave us room -heater. Food was horrible. No taste, no variety. Room service was miserable. Recption people were the worst. They were not paying attention to our complaints. Even other customers were fed up of their attitude.
They argued with us for 30-40 rupees in times when hotels go out of the way to ensure repeat visits.
It was only the good people of Darjeeling, and the beautiful scenery that saved the trip for us.
