Recently I had the opportunity to visit Pune, in Maharashtra, India, on an official trip. As this was my first trip to Pune, I was a bit worried about the place of stay and I reached Pune by train from Bangalore in an upbeat mood. Infact, as it was the advent of monsoons, it was raining when I first set my foot on Pune. Heading straight to the place of stay from the railway station, I tried to figure out how far I would be staying from the railway station - it was hardly 5 Kms.
The place is called ’’Hotel Span Executive’’ situated just a 5-minute walk away from the Shivaji Nagar railway station. Its actually tucked away in a road very near to the famous ’Jungli Maharaj’ road. (So, you won’t actually get easily lost.) However, by auto (local transport for hire) will cost you INR 30 to INR 40.
The very first look at the hotel building pleased me - the exteriors are well kept and maintained and the reception area where the check-in and check-out counters are situated was brightly lit with smiling and well groomed, smiling behind-the-counter personnel. The check-in process was quite smooth and the bell-boys ushered me into the room allocated for me. The layout and the aesthetics of the room are very pleasant, well laid out and deligently maintained. The house keeping staff are very pleasant and well mannered and are quickly at your service to make your stay comfortable.
You have a choice of choosing from executive, deluxe and super-deluxe suites which are air conditioned and selected executive rooms without air-condition also. I am sure that the tariffs will fit the budget/purse of any travelling executive or family or couple from India and/or abroad. The hotel houses a pure vegetarian restaurant with good ambience and churns out real good quality food. Breakfast is complimentary for guests staying at the hotel.
The only lacking facility that this hotel (if I have to look for one) is that it has a check-out time at 12 Noon (usually the standard is a 24-hour check-out). Well, despite this fact, I am sure that the guests will have a nice time staying at this place, added to the fact that this hotel is situated in a very calm and quiet locale.
