Never stay in this hotel

I had been to Chennai for Visa stamping; I stayed in The Chariot Hotel, which is near valluvar Kottam signal. The hotel was ranked as 3 star hotel, but the facilities are not even comparable with 1 star hotel. But the cost(room rent / food cost) wise it should be called a 3 star hotel.

  1. The TVs put in the room were old and cable signals were not proper.

  2. Window curtains were full of bad strains and dirt.

  3. On the roof too much of fungus formed(black color strains of fungus).

  4. Some of the rooms Bed condition was too bad(I was given a room in which the cot was shaking like a swing and was about to break).

  5. In the Bathroom, Hot running water was not hot, but just warm. Shower condition was too bad. The minimum toiletries provided were Rs.1 Shampoo sachet, 1/4th small bottle of foam bath liquid(hardly 5 ml), one small soap for hand wash.

  6. The flooring was not carpeted, and at bathroom no mat was put to wipe our legs after we come out of bathroom.

  7. No calling bell outside the door. If any one has to ask permission to come in, they need to knock the door, but they can not ring bell.

  8. The hospitality of the staff(particularly the manager) was too bad. When I had complained that the facilities were not as per the star hotel, the manager angrily replied “We are providing the facilities as per the other hotels near by”.

  9. Cleartrip.com, ezeego1.co.in etc travel agents were associated with this hotel as no one was showing interest to stay in this hotel. When I stayed in this hotel, I hardly find anyone in the hotel.

  10. If I compare with my past experience in Chennai, I stayed in Sangeetha Residency at Mylapore, which was far better option than this hotel, the cost also just half of the amount I paid at The Chariot.

The best hotel I had ever stayed with in Chennai was The Checkers at Saidapet. If you are going for Visa stamping or shopping etc, then best option is to choose The Checkers which is a 4 star deluxe hotel with excellent facilities(cost may be around 3500/- to 4000/-). If you are going to Chennai for sightseeing, then the option is to choose a low budget hotel like Sangeetha Residency as you are not going to enjoy much in the hotel room.
