We mention Panchatantra tales and Aesop’s fables as sources of instilling value in children. However lately I came across a collection by Sudha Murthy which I find to be the Panchatantra of modern times for in most cases the plots of stories are weaved in modern settings but the values being talked of are related to the traditional school of thinking.
It talks of respecting elders, respecting teachers, recognizing the potential in ordinary beings etc. Overall How I taught my Grandmother to Read and other stories is one book which you will love to read totally in one go for it is a collection of short stories written in extremely engaging and lovable manner.
