I read the book for the same reason most people did becoz of a 17 year old girl getting an amazing and unreal signing amount of half a MILLION $
well I expected something a little more filling than what I read ... I mean it was good but it wasnt something the whole world needs to gaga about...
while I havent the books she has supposedly stolen from the whole book reeks of a cliched story the pareents are like jims dad from american pie the HB’z like the chicks from mean girls and climax like many many teenage romances...
I kinda felt that she got paid half a million to write a teenage story which is a genre of its own that is a movie written like a book...
bad things aside and plagiarism charges notwithsstanding the book is fresh in the way it written and it is light on the brain a refreshing read but not something u blow almost 300 ruppees on becoz of the whole signing amount drama it not hard hitting like rushdies or naipauls books nor as cheap and vulgar as kushwant singh in his old age...
but she is definately not a talent or a force to reckon with in the literary world....
it sound hypocritical of me but yes I did like the book and wish I wasnt so prejudiced against it becoz after the hype I really had expexted much much more than what I got....
