Bought this laptop in 2009 from a local dealer at a price of about Rs.30, 000. Frankly speaking I didn’t like it that much. It’s just for low-moderate usage. For me, it can’t get the job done.
Note:I’m writing this review according to the performance and features that we get in a laptop at that price at the time of writing this review
Pros
Screen: The screen quality is pretty good. It’s just a 720p TN panel. But looks good. Brightness is also adequate. Good for a laptop at that price range.
Build: The build quality is actually very good. It looks to be solid and sturdy.
Keyboard and mouse: The keyboard and trackpad of this laptop are very very good. The buttons on the trackpad are made up of soft rubber and feel pretty good. The keyboard on the other hand is also nicely designed.
Fingerprint Scanner: I opted for the version with the fingerprint scanner. I’d say its not that good. You have to swipe your finger for it to register your fingerprint. And its acceptance rate is very low. For me it works for about 70% of the time. But its good to see that at this price we are at least getting a fingerprint scanner.
Upgradability: Unlike some new laptops this laptop is easily upgradable. Your upgrade your ram, HDD and of course battery. I’d not recommend u to replace your HDD upgrade to an ssd coz this one runs on SATA 1 interface, and even if you attach a good ssd, it won’t make a noticable difference.
=Cons=
Performance: It’s performance is just not that gr8. Mine has the Core 2 duo processor at 2.4Ghz. If u do just basic web browsing or use windows explorer then its good. Otherwise with even 8-10 tabs opened in browser, it hangs a lot. And if u run any graphic intensive game, even GTA IV it hangs like hell.
Speaker: The speaker quality I’d say is just average, nothing that gr8. It’s not loud enough to sufice at least my needs.
Battery: It’s battery lasts just 1hr 15-30mins even when doing basic browsing over wifi. While playing music and wifi off, it dies after 2hrs.
Lack of some important features: It lacks quite a few important features such as HDMI out, USB 3.0 ports, Webcam.
If u r in the market today hunting for a good laptop under 30000, stay away from this. Its pretty old model. Opt for at least an i3 with 4gb ram. I too will be soon upgrading to an i5 with 8gb ram laptop. Thanks for reading this review, if u find it helpful pls rate it below.
