Media buttons come with a blue backlight, and so do the status lights. The front panel is very aesthetically designed and slopes forward like the hood of a car, giving it that extra sleek look. Comes with Quickplay, which means you can play your DVD/VCD/ACD/mp3 CD WITHOUT booting the Windows. After using it for one month, I have the following observations: Graphics are extremely well supported. I have added 512 MB extra RAM, so Max Payne and NFS underground run really really well. 14 inch Widescreen and Pictures are sharper than other laptops in the range (Compaq B1822 etc). Speed is good. Wifi browsing is supported, checked it out. One touch access to wifi and bluetooth. Speakers churn out mp3s like anything. Webcam clarity is good, but only in daylight. Under bulbs, and dim lights, it tends to get dark. Good enough for video chat on YM. Backup is approx 3 hours, charging time is approx 90 mins. I tried using upto 3 media cards, XD picture card, Sony Memory stick Duo, and MMC card. All three of them read well, and you can transfer files at a blazing speed. Comes with a remote for the multimedia controls. It comes with XP Home pre-loaded, and without any driver disks. All the software has to be backed up immediately. I have written it down to 2 DVD’s. It comes with only on partition for the whole 80 GB, with a small dedicated partition for backup (abt 7GB). HP dv1624TN is a best buy if you are looking for mobility on the move, a little bit of gaming, and if you use it to play music and movies. It is mainly touted as an entertainment PC.
