I had bought this laptop a year ago.
Following is the configuration:
AMD 64 bit Turion Processor(equivalent to core 2 duo)
Windows Vista 32- bit version.
80 gb harddisk
1 gb of RAM
17" wide display
I took this laptop basically for use at home. Though Vista is relatively slow with other operating systems this was acceptable. Later I decided to install a 64 bit version of Linux Ubuntu OS which is available for free. Ubutntu was really performing well since it was th 64 bit OS and my hardware was supporting it.
Coming to the servive and support part it is very very bad as per my experience. I bought this laptop from very famous "House of laptops" store in pune. They will assist you for small problems. If they feel they can not do it or it is some hardware related problem then they will raise their hands and will send you to the HP Service Center.
I had problem of "Adapter" i.e. when adapter pin was plugged to the laptop it did not charge the laptop. I reported this problem and they re-directed me to HP Service center "VINTEK ELECTRONICS" located at Shivajinagar Pune.
I went there and reported the problem. They took my Adapter and asked me to come back after 1 week. Just for replacement of a component they asked me to wait for 1 week. OK. Now for 1 week I could not use my laptop.
*After 1 week I got a call from this VINTEK ELECTRONICS HP service center that, your part could not be replaced because it has physical damage. I told them that there is not physical damage but it is a burn of of some cricuit inside the Adapter.
That person never called me up. after that. When I used to make a call to customer care and ask about the status they used to say "you product is not dispatched from the HP warehouse" yet. As soon as it comes we will call you.
*I took the number of the HP warehouse department and asked them about the status.They used to say we will defintely ship the product this week. It is almost two weeks I have not got my adapter and I can not use my laptop. nI think VINTEK HP ELECTONICS at Shivajinagar, Pune is trying to cheat the people. They will get the parts from the HP warehouse and they will inform the customer that their part is not replaceable.
This is the bullshit. I know whats happening but I can not do anything.I am just following up with the customer care.They still say I will receive the part in next few days. Hope I get new laptop adapter from HP. Best of Luck for the HP Service.
