Let me share my experience of purchasing a CUSTOMIZED HP laptop(probook 4520s). I needed a professional laptop for my work and after doing a bit of research, decided to buy the probook from HP. The original specification of the laptop was : windows 7 professional(32-bit) OS, Pentium Core i3 processor, 3GB RAM, 500 GB harddisk, 15.6 inch display and NO dedicated graphics.
I wanted a dedicated graphics card...But the HP company does not offer customization support on its Indian website tough this option is available in U.S. So, I decided to call HP’s customer support to see if I could get a customized probook. I called up there all- India toll free number and they directed me to an agent here in Bangalore. I explained my requirements to the customer care executive and they sent me a quotation for the probook 4520s WITH DEDICATED GRAPHICS CARD (ATI RADEON) and core i5 processor, the next day.
The price for the actual probook was around 41, 000 rupees. The after customization price was 52, 000 rupees. Even tough I felt the price was a little costly, I went ahead and placed the order. The laptop, along with other accessories(Carry Bag) and windows CD was delivered to me after about a week. I love the laptop ever since I opened it and now I feel it was worth the money ;-) . Tough HP doesn’t deal with Indian customers directly, they have other channels to customize the laptop for customers. I am one of them, who has got my customized laptop.
