This review is very special to me. It is special cause I work for this wonderful organisation. I have learnt a lot here, learnt how to deal with good and bad people. Guess every company teaches you this but it is very important to take it in the right spirit. There are few reviews written on MS about HSBC, where people have complained about the services and products. Well that is their opinion and its welcome. After all it?s a service industry and feedbacks are always welcome.
Well this review is special for me because I will be completing 5 years shortly. I have come a long way. You know what I always hated the Banking industry, always felt that people working in banks are lousy. So I did my course in interior designing after my grad.
Simultaneously my mum had applied in HSBC on my behalf and forced me to go for the GDs and the interview. I obeyed her like a good girl. Aur Phir Who Din Aagaya. It was my last day at my Architecture college, and guess what when I came back home, I received a call from HSBC, HR Manager Jagjit Singh (now resigned). He just told me that he was Jagjit Singh and that time I knew only one person by that name who sings well. We all know him ofcourse.
HSBC was the last thing in my mind. He then introduced himself and informed me that I was selected. It was very difficult to decide?between something which I wanted to do and something which I always hated. But then Mummy dear came in picture again.. and I again had to be a good girl. Who can fight with destiny. Isn?t it ? No regrets?
My first day at work?..I took a direct bus to office at 7:30 am. Got off at my stop and did not know where to go from there. So I asked one guy who had also got off with me??Excuse me , can you tell me where is the HSBC office?. He gave me a strange look and asked me ? Do you work there? . I said Yes. I don?t know what happended but he gave me that strange look again and asked me? You work there and you don?t know where the place is ? . He almost shouted. Trust me I felt like slapping him. Ek to Jabardasti Kaam Pe Ja Rahin Thi, Aur Aise Namoone Se Mulakat hogayi. I just gave him one glance said ? Its my first day at work? and started walking. He then called out to me and apologized and showed me the way. I didn?t even thank him, he did not deserve it.
After my first day at work I felt I had taken the right decision. I liked my co-workers and the staff. In the last five years I have worked in various depts?Call Centre, Personal Banking, Credit Cards, Internet Banking etc. My Call centre experience was the best. We were a batch of 27 , and it was the pioneer batch when the All India HSBC Call Centre was launched. Taking calls was fun. You get to speak to so many people with different moods.
I remember this incident when we were new and my friend was sitting next to me and taking calls. We used to get calls from all parts of India, so at times we had to inform customers that their call has come to Bombay. So this friend of mine, instead of saying? Sir, your Call has come to Bombay?, she said ? Sir, your Ball has come to Combay?. I heard that and just could not control laughing. I was already on a call, but had to disconnect the call while the customer was on line. And then afcourse got a firing from my boss..Chalta Hai. Even he started laughing when I told him what happened.
Second incident happened to me. One day we had some system problem. So the technical guys were around trying to fix the problem. Everybody around was only talking about problem here and problem there. That is when a call hit me and unfortunately my system went off. And then instead of telling the customer, ?Sir, please give me a moment ?, I told the customer, ? Sir, please give me a Problem?. Trust me the customer laughed for alteast 2 minutes and then said, ? What kind of problem do you want from me Mam?. O boy ! that was so embarassing.
Such fond memories really keep you going. I left the dept but even today I share these with my new colleagues. Today I felt like sharing them with you and also tell you that I have come a long way and so has HSBC. This is for you HSBC !!!
