With the creditcard race hotting up in India, several banks have started offering their credircards for free. One agent of HSBC approached me offering a free lifetime creditcard with no fuel surcharge at any petrol pump. I signed up for it. After two weeks, I got a call and a lady identified herself as speaking from HSBC office in Chennai and asked to confirm certain information about my creditcard application. I confirmed the information and she said the credircard would reach me in about 2 weeks. Well, the card never came. I called up their office and helpline number but no one is aware of my application status.
While the bank may be within its rights not to offer me a card, what about my personal information and details that they have collested including my address, date of birth, family details, PAN No etc that they collected. I’ll always have a nagging doubt as to the use that it is being put to.
Will never approach any product of this bank, ever.
