I felt I should not write this review but still I feel that it would help someone who is looking to open an NRE account with HSBC Bangalore, MG road office.
I went at 3 PM to the HSBC bank in order to open a new NRE account with all the relevant documents at this branch. I got a token at the entrance and waited for an hour( imagine in todays world waiting one hour at a bank to open an account). It was not only me waiting there though, 7 more customers were waiting. In a span of one hour, only two customers were attended by one HSBC representative. But I was able to hear lot of people chatting inside the bank though.
I asked the person at the token counter how long I need to wait to open an NRE account?
His reply was "our bank will close at 4 pm"( but it was almost 4 pm)so soon they will attend all the customer before we close for the day.
When I got up and turned towards the bank employees office space, I was able to see about 4 to 6 HSBC representatives were chating near water cooler machine. I think they were chatting there for long time. Hence we were waiting at the reception. I am not against taking breaks during work hours. We all take breaks, but only in turns. When these people were relaxing, we as a customer have to wait for an hour.
I handed over the token to the person at the entrance and stepped out of the bank. because I felt if these people are not helping and so lethargic while opening an NRE Bank account, what would be my situation when I run into issues while I am overseas?
HSBC Bank advertising says worlds local bank - but my first impression and experience at their bank while trying to open an NRE account, their service is also local but not world class.
Note: this review is only about Bangalore MG road branch and I dont know about any other branch.
