This must be one of the hardest reviews to write ! For no one knows all about this guy is ! Is he a comedian? Is he a singer? Is he a guitarist? Is he a pianist? Is he a novelist?
He is one complicated man ! A complicated man, whom I and millions more adore ! * Hugh Laurie as a Comedian :* *
In youtube, do have a look at his comedy sketches along with Stephen Fry. My goodness ! You can see "Your name sir" to know see the kind of funny stuff these two guys usually come up with.
Hugh Laurie as a composer: I have hardly ever listened to any funny songs in English. But his songs, omg ! Here’s a small list of his funny songs:
Mystery: He talks about how his love for the girl is a mystery. He slowly reveals in each line, his ridiculously funny love story... He has never met the girl, The girl has always been in a different country... listen on, to find out !
Where is the lid? : Oh yeah ! When he is searching for the lid, that is right there next to him, he sings out... with heart, with soul, with everything into the song... he almost cries... "Where is the lid? " Well Stephen Fry unable to take anymore of this, gives him a nice whack to end this song !

So when you watch any of the songs in youtube, you’d find that apart from singing it exceptionally well, he makes all the funny face expressions (he’s an actor ! ), and plays either piano or guitar along !
Believe me! His guitar and piano skills are amazing ! But wait ! Thats not all... This guy can play a little bit of drums and the harmonica too...
Besides being an amazing comedian, and an amazing musician, he is an actor whom I’d compare with any of those greats out there ! He is Dr. House, in the american series which goes by the same name, and what a performance ! If you find a Dr. House dvd in any shop you can just grab it without any hesitation...
Here is what you’ll find in Dr. House
An episode starts of with a young preacher boy delivering sermons at a church. He has been doing that all his life, ever since he was a small kid. The whole church is always packed ! and everyone knows beyond any doubt that this boy has a gift from God. That he can talk to God. But then one day he collapses suddenly, and he is admitted at the hospital. When no one is able to find what is wrong, Dr House, of the Diagnostics department handles the case.
As the episode proceeds Dr House, arrogant as ever keeps irritating the boy with his questions about the preaching, God, and miracles and expresses his disbelief. But there can’t be anyone better than House when it comes to diagnosis and he finds out that the guy has a tumor in the brain, which has to be operated immideately to save him from death.House also concludes that the boy had just misunderstood his hallucainations to ’talking to God’
But when the boy refuses to agree for the operation, with his belief that, "its not the tumor. Its the God’s gift, that one thing special about me which makes me see God... . I dont want to take it away..." House’s friend steps in..."Hi, I have known many saints. And now you are one among them... The one thing that I’ve found in all of them is that they are always humble... Now what I am asking you is, can you be humble enough to give a consideration that you were not really chosen by God, that God had not given you any gift, and it was all just because of the tumor in your brain... can you be humble enough to accept that, and let us proceed..."
The operation proceeds and the boy is cured ! Then the boy meets House and says... "Hey ! You are having a great life ! to know that you’ve always been right" suggesting in his tone, how hard he now feels to find that all his life, he was living a lie... House sits down to think about this, as the episode ends...
This was just one episode. And each episode, has something like this, a gripping case, an interesting diagnosis, and something to think about life ! And Hugh Laurie’s acting in the show is just amazing ! Think of it. A british guy faking an accent, so well that none of the american viewers find it affected, and apart from that creating the whole new cranky yet lovable character "Dr. House" from his imagination ! The character was just in papers. In the dialog scripts. What we see on TV though is his amazing interpretation of how it should be.
So thats the guy for you ! No don’t you think I’ve said all about him ! Hmmmm. I’ve have this one view about living life.. living it "with one or two passions, hell lots of interests, and acquiring quite a few skills.. " and Hugh Laurie for me is a huge inspiration to this regard ! Get amazed by this guy !
