HDDCS is one of my favourite Bollywood movies (I know ca. 40).
Aishwarya is wonderfully beautiful and a wonderful dancer, and the music is wonderful, too.
The movie discusses again the question of arranged marriages which seems to appear in every second movie.
Here we have the story of that unlucky cousin girl who is given away to a husband and in-laws who beat her badly. It seems to me almost unbelievably brutal when she is unfeelingly ordered back by her family.
Aishwarya too cannot marry the man she loves (Salman Khan) but is married off to Ajay Devgan instead. The difference is that this husband is different. In an argument with his father he reveals his view that as a husband he feels responsible for his wifes happiness. He does not care to be the boss of an unlucky woman. In that he almost seems too good to be true. When he takes Ash to Italy so that she can find her lover (funny how the Italians are portrayed), he is always nice and caring while Ash behaves rather bitchy (and stupidly).
To me HDDCS seems to be like a fairytale: If only all men were considerate like Vanraj.
