Ok .. back to Hum and Tum again - the eternal tussle between the fair and fairer sex. By this I dont really mean, guys are always fair, though. Well, the curtain goes up and Hum Tum appear before your eyes. Those who already dunt know, they are two characters resembling a boy and a gal. As expected, the movie starts rolling in its way pretty smoothly.
The ’Hum’ karan, despite being a flirt, takes a special interest on Rhea. Well, no love interest of course. May be its something that ’Hum’ often takes when he sees a beautiful venusian. The two spend some not-to-forget moments in the city of Amsterdum. I give the director a ’thumbs up’ for perfectly screening those humorous and naughty moments between Hum and Tum at Amsterdum. This phase of their journey together, was indeed accompanied by excellent picturization and a nice song.
After a short while, the duo lands in New York, and Karan gets a bash for his deeds. I wont tell you what happened exactly, because thats not my purpose of writing this review.
The ball keeps on rolling and ’Hum’ , ’Tum’ keep on meeting each other. In every phase, something new happens and a different aspect of the eternal relationship between ’Hum’ and ’Tum’ surfaces out. Finally, they fall in love with each other, as probably there is no place for friendship between ’Hum’ and ’Tum’.
The director is able to portray the characters very vividly. Karan and Rhea seem boy and gal next door. The cast selection is superb. Saif as usual is excellent on his own note and did a great job. Rani is always a darling and am sure, u’ll love the character of Rhea. Rani has been able to portray the transformation in ’Tum’ very effectively. Rishi Kapoor, enters the screen accompanied by the famous score of ’Main sayer to nahi .. ’’. He indeed looks fresh and lively throughout the movie. Though in a couple of places, I felt he is doing a bit of over-acting. Roti Agnihotri as mother of Karan has done a short and sweet job. Kiran Kher as Rhea’s punjabi mom sounds a bit ridiculous in the beginning. But once you get accustomed to it, the rest of ur journey shoud be pretty fine.
The overall concept and presentation of the story is excellent. And that will make this movie a success, for sure. But mind you, the story itself is nothing new, its something that might happen to u or me too.
And now if you ask me, whether the movie was good enuf to keep me glued in my sit for the entire period, I would say, YES ! Because, thats my honest opinion. The numbers are pretty good, specially the softie ’’Saskon ko sason mein dholne do jara ... ’’. Watch this movie. Am sure, it will bring back some nice moments to you. After all, ’Hum’ jaise bhi hain, humare ’Tum’ ke sath koyi kahani jarur rahega. Aur, kahani abhi tak nahi hai to intezar kijiye, kiunki e jindagi bahut lambi hain !!
