Hunan needs no introduction because when it comes to Chinese and Thai cuisine Hunan is a name to reckon with. Hunan has opened several branches across India and is growing by the year. Hunan at Bel Road has a beautiful décor of white and red; white paneled walls, white leather chairs and white tables with red thrown in subtly to lift the mood. It is a fine dine restaurant and is definitely maintained like one.
Hunan serves some quality Chinese and Thai delicacies and it is a given that they maintain their hygiene standards as well. Some reviews over the internet talk about finding a cotton swab with blood on it in their food. Seriously? Don’t you even think while writing? If the food was cooked while the cotton swab was still in it, the blood on the swab would have washed off. If the cotton swab ‘fell’ in the food after it was cooked, wouldnt the chef or the waiter notice it while plating the food or serving it?
Anyway, I have been to Hunan several times and I can assure you I have never come across any such incidents. I particularly enjoy their Shanghai crabmeat soup which is so delicious I clean the bowl each time I order it. I also like their Sichuan Shredded Lamb Roast. It is a good blend of spicy and the right amount of sweet. Prawns in mushroom oyster sauce is another favourite.
I mostly go for the Non Veg selection but the Hunan serves good Vegetarian options as well like Crunchy Kung Pao Baby Corn, Crackling Spinach with Chili Pepper corn.
Me and my wife love frequenting this restaurant since we both love Chinese food. We have only one suggestion ie if you could, please increase the quantity of your food and make one dish atleast sufficient for two people.
