Hunger Site has new owners now, Tim Kunin and Greg Hesterberg, co-owners of EcologyFund.com. Long-time friends and activists, they bought The Hunger Site out of foreclosure in mid-August of 2001. Greg and Tim are dedicated to restoring and maintaining the site’s position as a leader in online activism and a dynamic force in the fight to end world hunger.
The site has a new look now, which looks quite good. As you open, on the main page you will see the world map, above which you will find that approximately 24, 000 people die daily due to hunger. When a country darkens on that map, it represents a death from hunger it seems. Yes, I could see some parts of the map of third world countries getting darkened. I felt very sad. At least we can help by clicking every day, to help to feed the hungry.
These people have been found to die each day from hunger or hunger-related causes. That translates into one person dying every 3.6 seconds , 74% of which are children. The majority of hunger-related deaths are caused by chronic malnutrition. An estimated 800 million individuals -- children, mothers, fathers, grandparents simply cannot get enough to eat.
