Cellforce (now Hutch) is the pioneer in cell services in gujarat. I myself am using its services since last one year (previously I used AT & T). But, services offered by hutch are ecellent, in terms of connectivity it has no equals. But, recently, we have witnessed a downtrend in prices, and along with that, lots and lots of differnet schemes to woo the customers. earlier, hutch too was in the race for the schemes, but now, it seems it has opted out of it. Airtel is the only player in the market offering lots of schemes (freebies) to woo the customers. its services too have improved. earlier, when it was launched about a year ago, services of airtel were too poor. but this is not the case today. they are almost at par with that of hutch. so, Hutch cant affort to be complecant on the marketing side of its product. agreed that it has a great product on offering. but, with government planning to offer number flexibility within 3-4 months, what I suppose is that the one with best offers will only survive. in the scenario, where there is no product differentiation, only the way you offer it matters. and airtels services are at par with that of hutch, and that comes bundled with lots of freebies. so with a good product alone, with no extras, I think it will be a little touch competition for hutch. today, the only problem with customers in changing the service providers is that they wont be getting their numbers back. but the decision of government on number flexibility will change the whole scenario. with the help of that, you will have the same number , but service provider of your choice. For example, suppose you are a hutch subscriber, with number 9825365998, and you are not happy with the extras, or say services, you can subscribe to airtel, and your number will remain the same. so what the prob?? you pay the money to hutch or airtel, of cource to the one who gives you more benefits. so, I believe that with this scheme being effective by 3-4 months, hutch should also recognise the effect of promotions, and its necessities in current scenario.
