Read a couple of members praising Hyderabad Central(HC) and thought it was time to put things into proper perspective. HC may be a cool place to visit but it certainly aint cool for people living close by. This eyesore has come right on a busy intersection and cars waiting to get into the mall block the roads making life difficult for other road users. The flyover coming nearby is not helping matters. This is a daily occurence and the cops at the Panjagutta police station right opposite HC are blissfully ignorant, possibly tells you how well greased the palms of the administrative machinery have perhaps been. The eyesore(read HC whenever mentioned) was not given clearance for months after its inauguration by the fire department and I dont know what happened later that nobody talks about safety now. So **Caveat emptor!
*Walk into the eyesore and you see it meets the general standards of crowded display that most Indian shopping complexes gravitate to [check out the recently renovatedLifestyle a few kms ahead and you understand what I mean]. It is choc-a-bloc with people and NOISY to boot!
The place is certainly not VFM and theirUp to 50% sales are best avoided unless something has pricked your social conscience that you intend helping them clear off their stocks. They are now running aHappiness Unlimited sale- I wonder whose happiness they are referring to the consumers or the owners?
I am sure the eyesore gets its share of footfalls- wonder if it is making money! It is a nice place to get into if you are caught in the Hyderabadi sun and have nowhere to go. Earlier you had these earthern, water-filled pitchers for the weary summer traveller on Hyderabads roads, now you have air-conditoned shopping malls every kilometre- who says India has not progressed?
Wondering why I keep referring to HC as an eyesore? You should have seen that beautiful bungalow they brought down to make way for HC and you would agree! And if you have been to Mumbai and have travelled on Mumbais Western Railway lines, you know why calling it Bombay central makes sense!
