*After seeing the Diwali Offers in a leading newspaper at Hypercity - Malad I decided to visit them.
Yeterday ie on 03/10/2009 I went to Hypercity - Malad and was happy with the diwali offers and did the shopping as per my requirements. I bought Cadbury Choclates Celeberation Pack which had 10% off on the M.R.P which was mentioned at the place where this product was kept. Next I bought a Fanta - 2 Litre Party Pack which had a gift of small diwali candle set worth Rs.55/-. This was mentioned on the counter where it was kept. This offer was also valid on Thumps Up, Limca, Sprite - 2 Litre Party pack.
Next I shopped for some vegetables and as usual weightage was done and the person put the price sticker on the packet. When I was checking the prices on the packet I was shocked to see that one of the vegetable price ie of Cluster Beans was wronly mentioend as Rs.30/- per Kg where as on the counter it was mentioned as Rs.22/- per Kg. I immediately went back to the person who was at the packing counter. He was unaware of this and first had a look at the exact price and then put the correct price tag on the packet.
Finally after completing the required shopping I went to he billing counter and here began my ORDEAL. I asked the billing person about the 10% OFF on the Cadburry Choclate pack. when he punched, the price came as the ORIGINAL M.R.P price on the computer screen. The person said he is unaware of the same and said he would personally check. As he was abut to leave his seat his senior came and the billing person asked him about the offer. the senior told him that the offer is valid if one purchases 10 pieces of the same product. I was again shocked at this reply. I told the billing person to remove those packets from my bill.
Next, as I had purchased the Fanta - 2ltr Party pach which had the offer of diwali candle set I asked him many times abt this offer before he punched the bill. he said that I would get the gift at the Gift counter. I believed him and after the full billing was done I went in to the gift counter to collect the free gift on the fanta bottle. One boy at the counter bought a 350ml Apple Fanta and said that this is the gift offered with this pack. I was again SHOCKED by their attitude. They mention one thing at the product counter, another thing at the billing counter and a third thing at the gift counter.
I told him that if that offer is not applicable then why have u mentioned at the product counter. he said he would check and went to another product counter where some bottles of Thumps UP and Limca had been kept. the boy bought the Thumps UP - 2 Litre Pack and showed me that the gift is attached with that. I said that I had purchased the product coz of this only and it was of no use if my needs are not fulfilled.
In the meantime another girl who was also standing at the Gift Counter started arguing with me about the offer. I said to her that you should mention at the product counter istelf about the correct products on which the offer is applicable. I told her to tack back the product and return my money. In the mean time the boy was checking talking to someone about th offer and the finally after lot of ARGUMENTS he gave me the Desired FREE GIFT.
This ended my ORDEAL but all the fun of DIWALI Shopping was spoilt and I was very unhappy at the whole experience especially at the ATTITUDE OF THE STAFF.
Compared to Hypercity I think DMart is the best while giving out out discounts and free gifts.
So Friends, if you are going to shop at Hypercity this DIWALI or ANY OTHER TIME please confirm the offers before your buy them or before the bill is punched.
