The Hyundai Grand i10 comes with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol engine has been carried over from the previous generation model; it is a 1.2 litre dual VTVT motor, which is capable of delivering 82 bhp with a maximum torque of 116 Nm. Buyers of this version also get to choose between a 5 speed manual transmission and a 4 speed automatic gearbox. The engine is frugal as well, returning a mileage figure of 19.77 kpl when connected to its manual gearbox and 17.49 kpl when coupled to the automatic. However, Hyundai has gotten ridof the old 1.1 litre diesel engine and instead replaced it with an all new 1.2 litre, 3 cylinder diesel engine. This motor produces 74 bhp and has a rated peak torque of 194Nm. The diesel engine is now much torquier, which necessitates a lesser number of gear shifts while navigating through city traffic. This new diesel motor is quite refined and has been tuned for fuel economy as well, returning an impressive 24.95 kpl. Gas type shock absorbers provide for a smooth ride quality, and the on-road stability is reasonably good as well.
