I10 from Hyundai...1.2L Sportz....Mileage update

*Mileage update after 2000 kms...

Did a trip to Vedanthangal (a birds sanctuary in Chennai)

Total Distance covered - 176 kms.

City          - 46 kms

Highway - 130 kms

Started with Full tank with Shell Advanced Petrol

Filled petrol on return - 9.62 lts

Overall Mileage - 176/9.62 = 18.30 km/lt

If I exclude the city drive and calculate only for highway.130 Kms.. and out of 9.62 lts I exclude 3.83 Lts for the city drive (46 km / 12 ) as I normally get 12 km/lt in city. So for 130 kms I have used 5.79 Lts of petrol.. hence  - 130/5.79  = 22.46 km/Lts.....I am very much happy about the mileage of my car..especially on highway.. expect it to go litter higher after my 2nd service...

pls share with me your view and mileage updates..It all started when I decided to go for a new companion .. 2 months of intense study and web research made me decide  a Hyundai vehicle.......I decided for a Santro which comes around 3.8 lakhs with all freebies (MP3 player, Seat covers+mats+remote entry +car cover)..

I had visited all the showrooms in Chennai and took my parents to KUN hyundai, Anna Ngr to have a look at my Car.... This is when all changed....My family, after looking into the Santro, stepped into the little beauty..i10. From the outside it is smaller than the Santro, but inside its great in space.. they felt more comfortable within the i10 compared to Santro.. The rear seat space easily accomodated 3 (my parents are around 5.5 ft) and they were pleased with the handrest in the side door...

So... with this I was tempted to test drive the i10 1.1L Era..   WoW... this is exactly what I felt when I drove this beauty.. the Electronic Power steering is great and gives you the confidence in city traffic... the AC is terrific... Me being 6.1 ft, leg room is very important.. i10 gave that to me..

Whenever I get into a car to test drive, I push the drivers seat back to the maximum and with the same position look for the space for the rear passengers... no other car, that I compared(santro/Zen estilo/ Wagon R/Alto/Spark) had the space similar to i10...

So.. with this I had changed my mind to go in for the i10 Era model.. this is where the trickky part comes in..Hyundai has launched the new i10 1.2L kappa engine and my mind was wandering between 1.1 and 1.2... after a lot of thought wanted to test drive the 1.2L sportz to see the difference..

1.2 had a clear upper hand in terms of power, the car had a great pickup and wow.. there was absolutely no sound of the engine.... even when u are pressing the accelerator u can hardly get any noise.. clear plus compared to the 1.1 engine...

When I finally decided for the 1.2 Kappa engine..Magna I noticed that the magna 1.2 model does not have the rear headrest, wiper and washer which is available in the 1.1 L Magna... without the rear headrest, it was very uncomfortable for someone to sit back and relax...

So I had to further stretch and booked the Hyundai i10 1.2L Sportz Kappa engine..Got my car on the 20-Aug-08 and have driven around 600 Kms till now ( including a trip to Pondy). The car is great but is not without some minor issues.. the Handbreak is not effective.. even in slight slope, the break does not stand...i had to use grear to get the confidence... Reverse gear gets stuck all times..but these I hope can get rectified easily....

I got a mileage (aprox) of around 17 kmpl in highway and 11-12 in city...hope this will improve or might be bcos I am a new driver..learnt driving only in jan 08..Overall a gud car to own..and enjoy...ensure you don’t circum to temptation or keep your walet flexible..bcos you have a variety of options in i10 (1.1 - d-lite, Era & Magna...1.2 - Magna, Sports & Asta) to choose and enjoy...

Finally, about the showroom, I went to KUN Hyundai in Anna Nagar..Mr. Kirupakaran was my executive. Great customer service.. he was always smiling and ready to serve you.. I did test drive around 5 times and he was more than willing to take me.. thanks to him...but I booked my car with DSC for some reasons and I am not satisfied with their service.

This is my first review in MS and wanted to share my experiece with other more than the specifics of the car which is available everywhere... i10 from Hyundai...Go for it......Mileage Update : In city I am getting around 12kmpl and on highways 20 kmpl (i had been to bangalore with Shell petrol) driving constantly around 80-100 kmph..
